Resilienza - Innovazione - Sviluppo Sostenibile | Trasparenza - Organizzazione - Meritocrazia
This newsletter, prepared in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, strongly reiterates the strategic role of cultural heritage as a key driver for sustainable growth, environmental regeneration and social cohesion, today more than ever extremely relevant.
As highlighted by the editorial, From pandemic to a new economy: towards a circular economy and a circular city, signed by CLIC Scientific Responsible, Prof. Luigi Fusco Girard, the covid-19 outbreak only confirms the CLIC project’s thesis about the need for an adaptive reuse of cultural heritage as the entry point for a “human-centred” circular economy strategy, able to drive a more sustainable, climate-neutral, resilient and inclusive development, as recommended by the European Commission new Circular Economy Action Plan, one of the main building blocks of the European Green Deal.
This issue will show the work carried out with local stakeholders in the four project pilots for the co-creation of the Local Action Plan of abandoned and underused cultural heritage in the circular economy perspective, in particular through participatory process (public consultation and circular business model workshops). It will be the occasion to provide an overview of the circular economy strategies adopted by the European Countries, to present the environmental benefits of the circular approach to urban and building design and to discuss the positive impacts of adaptive reuse projects on people wellbeing as well as in the fight against social inequalities.
