The Italy’s National University Centre for Applied Economic Studies CiMET, in collaboration with the Schweitzer family, has set up an annual price for scholars in the early stages of their career in memory of Professor Stuart O. Schweitzer. The award is open to young academics working in the field of political economy, economic policies analysis and applied economic studies.
Stuart O. Schweitzer, distinguished American professor based for several decades at UCLA, devoted his academic career to economic studies with a particular focus on health industries (biotech and pharmaceutical), innovation, and industrial policy. His studies were driven by a deep passion for research and knowledge, by a profound intellectual curiosity and by a strong openness to international experiences. In teaching and conducting research, he mentored and collaborated with young scholars across several countries and different interdisciplinary backgrounds. The winner will be awarded with a check of $2,500 US to support her/his research activity and periods of visiting in foreign Universities or Research Institutions.
The prize will be awarded to scholars whose research makes a theoretical contribution, is empirically rigorous, and is relevant to political economy or public policy.
