Resilience - Innovation - Sustainable Development | Transparency – Organization – Meritocracy
The project deals with the issue of marginalisation processes affecting territories progressively excluded from development trajectories, resulting in the contraction of economic activities, reduction of essential services, depopulation, and decay of the historical, cultural and environmental heritage. The focus is on marginalised areas of the Italian territory, such as villages and inland areas, which often suffer a state of decline and abandonment but, at the same time, with a great potential represented by cultural landscapes and tangible and intangible assets.
The aim of the project is to activate regeneration processes based on enhancing the landscape as a driver of social, cultural and economic innovation of these territories and on the synergy between top-down policies and bottom-up initiatives. With reference to the national framework represented by the National Strategy for Inner Areas and by Law no. 158/2017 known as the “Salva Borghi” (“Save Villages”) law, the research aims to contribute for reducing territorial inequalities through processes of community empowerment and territorial improvement which can foster a more equitable and balanced development between “core” and peripheral areas.
