CLIC Italy: approaches and evaluation tools

Scientific Coordinator

Pasquale De Toro

Objectives and contents

The project aims to identify new strategies for urban regeneration and management by developing appropriate assessment tools to improve decision-making at the micro, meso and macro level. The specific objective of the research is to develop and validate multi-criteria evaluation tools to support decision-making in adaptive re-use processes towards circular and sustainable cities, considering that the evaluation approaches used in the cultural heritage sector are considered unsatisfactory. The assessment will be applied to one or more case studies in Italy to be identified based on appropriate criteria, providing a replicable tool to introduce the principles of the circular city into the design/planning processes that are fundamental in promoting new governance capacities. It is intended to develop and test a hybrid/innovative evaluation method between qualitative and quantitative multidimensional methods that can be used in the co-design, co-planning, co-management of the circular adaptive reuse of cultural heritage, in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the circular model.
