SURE-SOIL – Sustainable Use and Resilience of European Soils

Scientific Coordinator

Paolo Landri

Objectives and contents

The European project SURE-SOIL, funded under the Horizon Europe programme (MSCA) and coordinated by Prof. Xueyu Geng (UniversitY of Warwick, UK), aims to develop sustainable and resilient solutions for soil erosion control and sediment management through an integrated approach that combines advanced monitoring, experimentation, nature-based solutions, territorial governance and public policy development.

The project is structured into thematic Work Packages and includes research activities, training through secondments, dissemination actions, engagement of local communities and support for public decision-makers.

The contribution of CNR-IRISS focuses on scientific aspects, governance, policy development, communication and dissemination, in line with the Institute’s expertise and the approved work plan. In particular, the contribution of IRISS-CNR is centred on the socio-economic, governance and social innovation dimensions related to sustainable soil management, with specific attention to participatory processes, policy evaluation and the transfer of knowledge to territories.

The project is coordinated by Prof. Xueyu Geng (University of Warwick, UK). The CNR-IRISS research unit is coordinated by Paolo Landri (Scientific Responsible for CNR-IRISS) and includes researchers, technologists and technical-administrative staff of the Institute involved in the project’s scientific activities, training, dissemination, communication and reporting.
