Objectives and contents

Diet constitutes an excellent eating pattern, a symbol of healthiness and longevity in the world, so much so as to be recognised as ‘Intangible World Heritage of Humanity’ by Unesco in 2010. The intention is to carry out an in-depth study of the places and products of the MD and to focus on all its implications for the integrated development of the territory, particularly from a cultural, agricultural and tourism point of view. This sub-project has been concretely implemented with the decision to realise the Mediterranean Diet Exhibition (DMED) by the Municipality of Capaccio Paestum, with the Deliberation N. 684 of 23/12/2021. The Mediterranean Diet Exhibition was held on 26-29 May in the former Tabacchificio di Capaccio Paestum. The initiative was sponsored by Campania Region and the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies. The event included a technical-scientific session, with workshops and round tables with leading researchers and experts in the field, and an exhibition with companies producing and processing typical agro-food products of the Mediterranean Diet.
