Objectives and contents

The advanced training course for Experienced Design Experts was offered under the auspices of  the National Operative Program (PON) as part of the research project Neoluoghi – Solutions for Cultural Experience in Places of Elective Supermodernity. The course achieved the aim of training 22 professionals from various Italian regions and different university and professional backgrounds. The main teaching goal was to enable the participants to create and design theme-based cultural systems such as theme parks, immersive and scenographic layouts, backdrops and entertainment instruments for cultural visits.

The 840 hour course included:

1. 340 hours of face-to-face and distance learning geared toward the acquisition of highly specialised knowledge of the following macro-topics: common enjoyment systems; cultural experience in themed systems; ICT technology for the enjoyment of the themed cultural heritage and strategies for local development.
2. 400 hours of operational experience – hands-on training on the job in collaboration with implementing bodies, research institutes and enterprises involved in industrial research and experimental development.
3. 100 hours of learning related to programming; strategic management; operational evaluation and organisation of industrial research projects and experimental development; project analysis and planning via classroom learning, distance-learning and action learning (Project work and job experience).

The different course modules enabled learners to acquire the technical-specialist skills linked to a professional profile which will allow them to offer: i) specific consulting skills for tourism

and the cultural heritage sectors aimed at company managers, ii) cross-disciplinary behavioural skills related to team work, problem solving and a pro-active approach to  company organisation.

The course ended on December 5^th 2014 with the prestigious Lectio Magistralis by Marc Augé.
