Pietro Evangelista is Research Director in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) at CNR – IRISS.
He carried out extensive research on business economics and management issues associated with maritime-port logistics and logistics service industry. This is reflected in more than 100 publications including books and book chapters, articles in international peer-reviewed academic journals and conference papers.
The study of ICT dissemination in logistics service companies has been the topic of further investigations. On this topic, in 2009, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Logistics and SCM by Heriot-Watt University (UK). In 2010, he won the James Cooper Memorial Cup from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK for the best Ph.D. Logistics Dissertation.
His current scientific interest is focused on the role of environmental sustainability in the strategy of logistics providers and the impact of knowledge management in logistics. Such research are carried out in collaboration with Aston University e Hull University Business School (UK), Linköping University e University of Skövde (Sweden), Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland).
Pietro Evangelista is member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Logistics: Research and Applications and International Journal of Business and Systems Research. He serves as a Peer Reviewer for several international journals in the field of Logistics, SCM and Operations Management. He has been Guest Editor for numerous special issues published on national and international journals. He is member of the Scientific Committee of international conferences and workshops and He is also member of the R&D committee of the European Logistics Association.
Pietro taught Business Economics and Management at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II. He is now Adjunct Professor in Logistics at the Lappeenranta University of Technology.
He assists the EU Commission as an independent expert in the evaluation of research and infrastructure project in the field of transport and logistics.
