Luisa Fatigati is a research fellow at CNR-IRISS since 2020, within the project “Design of a sustainable service system for the enhancement of cultural heritage. An innovative model for the Archconfraternities of Naples (ad Maiora)”.

Architect, PhD in Architectural and Urban Composition, she experiments innovative forms of urban design with attention to the themes of the “new urban question” and the interrelation between space and society. The reflection operates within the scientific paradigm of action-research, where urban regeneration is accompanied by community empowerment and the assessment of the conditions of transformability and social inclusion. This research, developed both from a theoretical point of view and through field experiments (territorial and urban planning projects, surveys and public debates in various regions of Italy), has been increasingly characterised in recent years as operational research, through the Laboratories – places for educational encounters, experimentation and collaboration – designed and conducted to disseminate the value of the commons and seek possible new uses for cultural assets, particularly the city’s historical and architectural heritage.

A member of the “Archipicchia-Architettura per Bambini” association, she has supervised architecture workshops for children and local schools for various organisations (Museo di Capodimonte, MANN, PAN, Archivio Storico del Banco di Napoli, FOQUS, etc.). In a network with associations, she has worked for the census of open spaces in the city of Naples to be returned to play.

Since 2007 she is the technical coordinator of the associated firm Goldstein Architettura, based in Naples. As a designer of municipal and executive urban plans, she has been responsible for the analysis and regulation of the detailed protection of historic buildings and for participatory urban planning activities.

Author of monographs, scientific articles and project reports, she has participated as a speaker at conventions, seminars and conferences in Italy and abroad.
