Applications open for the international CLIC Startup Competition: Cultural Heritage Adaptive Reuse as Circular Economy strategy

Applications are open for the international CLIC Startup Competition, a key initiative developed within the H2020 project CLIC “Circular models Leveraging Investments in Cultural heritage adaptive reuse” addressed to startups and business ideas working in the field of cultural heritage adaptive reuse, which are inspired to the principles of circular economy for enhanced sustainability, social impact and environmental regeneration.

The event is organized by the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development of the National Research Council of Italy in collaboration with international partners, under the patronage of Campania Region and Municipality of Naples and supported by SEMED “Startup Europe Mediterranean”, the digital platform developed  by the CLIC partner FacilityLive.

The main aim of the Startup Competition is to promote a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive development, by boosting the entrepreneurial capacity and innovation in the cultural heritage field and creating new opportunities for creative businesses and innovators, paying great attention to social impacts.

Applications can be submitted on the CLIC Startup Competition website by October 15, 2020.

Participants are encouraged to submit ideas focusing on – but not limited to – the following heritage-related sectors:

  • Cultural, safe and sustainable tourism
  • Creative, cultural, education and entertainment industries
  • Heritage community, social innovation and ethical finance
  • Technologies and materials for the circular city and building
  • Abandoned cultural landscapes regeneration

The 20 most promising teams will be invited to the final event that will take place from 25 to 27 November 2020 in Naples where they will be supported by experts from 012 Factory to improve their business idea and be ready for the Pitch Competition. The 5 winning teams, identified by a qualified international jury composed of experts in innovation, investors, researchers, policy makers and finance representative, will be rewarded with a 4-month mentoring and acceleration program developed by CLIC partner, Iniziativa Cube. The acceleration services will allow the innovators to develop their business model and accessing public and private funding.
